ZAGREB





The city of Zagreb is the biggest city in Republic of Croatia and the capital.












The Zagreb Cathedral on Kaptol is a Roman Catholic institution and not only the tallest building in Croatia, but also the most monumental sacral building in Gothic style southeast of the Alps. It is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary and to kings Saint Stephen and Saint Ladislaus. The cathedral is typically Gothic.








The building is shaped like a rectangular tower with a small passage because it was once part of the defense system of Gradec. Stone Gate is the only defensive gate that has been preserved until today. In a small passage there is a chapel of Our Lady of the Stone Gate, the patron of the city. Legend says that in the last fire only thing preserved was image of Holy Mary with child.





Mandusevac is a fountain on Zagreb’s Central Square of Ban Josip Jelacic. In the past, it was a natural water source which legends tie to the founding of the city.









The Church of St. Mark is the parish church of old Zagreb, Croatia, located in St. Mark's Square.









The Lotrščak Tower is a fortified tower located in Zagreb, Croatia, in an old part of town called Gradec or Gornji grad.

Square Nikola Šubić Zrinski  is a square and park in Donji Grad, the central part of Zagreb, the apital of Croatia. It is located near the central Ban Jelačić Square, halfway towards the Main Railway Station.

Maksimir Park is the oldest public park in Zagreb.



Mimara Museum is located in the center of the city, close to many other cultural and educational institutions.

It offers view on the rich and varied art collection with works of the ancient world as well as of the European art from the early Middle Ages to the 20th century. A special unit consists of works of arts of the Near, Middle and Far East.

The Changing of the Guard starts at 11:40 am, and ends at 2:20 pm, every Saturday and Sunday, as well as 31 May ( City of Zagreb Day ), 18 October ( Cravat Regiment day ) and 1 January ( New Year's Day ).
